Nishikien's tea was started by the words of our predecessor, who considered it to be a "natural treat. “The family has taken over the environmental-friendly tea production, using no pesticides or chemical fertilizers, and cultivating tea leaves according to the rhythm of nature, without being bound by production efficiency. Only 100% YABUKITA first-picked Tea-leaves are used, and the entire process from cultivation to tea production is carried out at the company's own factory.
This is a "single farm, single variety" tea.

農薬・化学肥料不使用(栽培期間中)
農薬や化学肥料を一切使用せず、生産効率にとらわれない自然のリズムで茶葉を栽培。やぶきた100%の1番茶葉のみを使用し、栽培から製茶まで一貫して自社専用工場で行なっている【単一農園・単一品種】のお茶です。
農薬・化学肥料・除草剤・添加物を使わないお茶作りは、農薬に頼らず、虫に負けない壮健な木を育てるために、土壌作りに気の遠くなるような作業を重ねてきました。春の新芽を刈り採った後の茶葉はお茶の木と木の間に切り落とし、緑肥として自らの茶木や茶葉を育てるための栄養分となって還元することになりました。結果として自然の森や林がそうであるように、茶木がゆっくりと時間をかけて、自らの力で虫やカビに強い茶木に育ちました。
化学肥料や農薬を使わずに、虫や鳥や動物と共存している茶畑の土を踏みしめると、温かいのです。土が本来持っている
ぬくもりとはこういうものなのか、とあらためて感じさせられます。まさに大地の優しさと言えるでしょう。
Pesticide-free/Additive-free
Since we wanted to grow our green tea particularly for its health and strength giving properties, we began to use only natural farming methods to make the soil as healthy and rich as possible to grow healthy and nutritional tea plants. It took enormous effort to restore our farm’s soil so that we would not have to use pesticides or chemical fertilizers. In the beginning it was a struggle because the insect population swelled with no pesticides, and it was a constant struggle to hand remove the harmful insects. Within a few years, the soil improved greatly, the insect population came into balance, and the tea plants flourished. Now, after twenty five years of careful, natural farming, the eco system of our farm is in balance. The soil is soft, fragrant and rich with healthy organisms, and the plants are strong and thriving, yielding a delicious tea bursting with vitality.
Golden Tips 一芯二葉
【一番茶のみ】
年に一度、春の新芽のみを摘みお茶に作り上げ、二番茶からは作っていません。
WE HARVEST TEA ONLY ONCE A YEAR in spring, taking only the top, best buds as the first and only cut for that year. This is called “Shinme” in Japanese.
After our first and only harvest of the prime, top buds, we do the major pruning of the plant, removing the leaves, and leaving just the branches and twigs on the plant. We leave all of the the trimmings on the ground to naturally compost, creating natural, green tea leaf fertilizer to nourish the soil.
Special Feature
錦苑の茶畑は、昔の文書で「香水の里」と呼ばれた場所にあります。香水の様な豊ですっきりとした香りが一番の特徴です。旨味をたっぷりと付けたお茶ではないのですが、お茶の葉が本来持つ自然の旨味は十分楽しんで頂けます。宇治茶独特の浅蒸しの製法により水色は「黄緑から黄色」も宇治茶の個性の一つです。
Nishikien's tea plantation is located in a place that was called "the village of perfume" in old documents. The most distinctive feature of the tea is its rich and clean aroma . It is not a tea with a lot of flavor, but you can fully enjoy the natural flavor of the tea leaves. The water color is yellowish green to yellow due to the unique shallow steaming process of Uji tea. Uji tea is not "green" but "yellowish green to yellow" in color, which is the specialty of themselves.
